We needed to be in Bangkok for a few days not too long ago, so we decided to give the kids the experience of a night train ride there and back, which they'd never done before. This pretty much secured the trip as the best ever for the kids. Such a contrast though- leaving our quiet village by the rice fields and mountains and waking up to a city bustling with millions of people, taxis, sky trains, skyscrapers, lights, noise. Even though it was a work trip, we were able to have fun and make it to a snake show as well as a couple hours for Nathan and the kids at the aquarium. I meant to take pictures at the snake show, especially since many of them were ones we've killed in our yard, but the kids weren't about to get off our laps with the snakes so close, so no pictures from that one!

Maybe too spicy for Eva and Elijah
Even though school started up a month ago, Eva's just today heading back to school. This is because after a summer packed full of play with kids from our village but low on family time, the kids were ready for some time with mom and dad. So while all the kids around here went back to school, I took a month or so to give the kids more quality time at home before sending Eva back to school again. This turned out to be just what they needed and was awesome for me too. So now as Eva heads back to school today, she's excited because she has that much more common ground with the kids in school this year and that much more language ability, and I'm happy because I got several weeks with the kids. Here's Eva heading off to school this morning. All smiles!
