meet our house helper

Our house helper with the kids and I one afternoon as we ventured out to a big festival here. Most people here have a house helper to help them navigate through all the tasks that would be extremely difficult and time consuming if we tried to do them ourselves since we're not from this culture. In addition to all her help, we also have the added benefit of only speaking Lao throughout the day b/c she is always here with us while English speakers are not. My language has grown tremendously, and Eva too is now saying more and more in Lao. She has been with us since Elijah's birth nearly ten months ago and has become like one of our family.

painting!

See the before and after in our new house? I love painting because the results are quick... and our house has gone from feeling scary and dirty to calm and safe. More house pics to come!

behold the banana tree

Mountains!

The mountains just outside Tha Kaek... a short seven minute drive from our house! We live at the base of the highest hill in town, so as we head down the hill towards home, we get the best view in town!
