Lunch and Language

Lunch today was for eight kids, plus two more who arrived after I was this far along in my assembly line. What a riot and thank goodness for fast food. It just might be though, that our kids are finally over their shy hurdle in playing with kids in our village, which is a small miracle really. This step out of the shy circle has also means that we are starting to see our kids are move along with their language. They're still not great, but they're working hard to communicate, which is fun to watch. Yesterday, Eva was looking for her purple shoes and wanted to ask her friends if they'd seen them, only she couldn't remember the word for purple. She told me that she asked her friend wearing a purple shirt what color her shirt was, then she asked if anyone had seen her purple shoes. She didn't ask me, which means she's gaining confidence, which has been happening all over the place this summer. Thanks to all who remember our kids and think of their challenges with learning a new language, having good friends, and loving the place they live. They are thriving in all three!
