The river behind our house overflowed its banks a couple days ago, running out over the rice fields and coming up to cover much of our back yard. When we woke up that morning, our poor little turkey poults were deep in water in their turkey coup, and being just a week or so old, they were dangerously wet and cold. So in a once in a lifetime event for anyone who knows me, I mustered my bravery and made my way through the rain to the coup and carried momma turkey and baby turkeys to safety by our kitchen. I've never had a turkey face right beside my own before, and I'm pretty confident this won't happen again. Thankfully Nathan handled the tom turkey, which would have been much worse.
Our already wobbly bridge/fishing platform looked as though it might flow right down the river with the current.
The river runs right to left along the bottom of this picture, but it's hard to tell river from field!
